Jonathan Lowet joined the National Committee as a senior program officer in March 2004. During his tenure, he has focused on overseeing the Young Leaders Forum, launching the U.S.-China Student Leaders Exchange to China and the United States, leading Congressional staff trips, re-launching the Committee's website, and programming a handful of other Committee projects.
Mr. Lowet taught English in Beijing and Wuhan as a Yale-China Association Fellow for nearly two years (1988-1990) after receiving his B.A. magna cum laude in history from Yale. He then worked for the D.C.-based Health Care Advisory Board before earning a master’s in international affairs at Columbia University, focusing on China and international communications.
Mr. Lowet also has many years of experience working in new media and communications. He worked at ABC.com, Discovery Communications, and Beliefnet, an Internet start-up he helped launch. Immediately before joining the National Committee, he was the Director of Academics at Global Education Network, a distance learning company that produces college-level courses on CD-ROMs and offers instruction over the Internet.
