Jonathan Lowet, Senior Director, Leadership Initiatives

Jonathan Lowet joined the National Committee in 2004. During his tenure, he has focused on building its next-generation programs. He oversees the Committee’s Congressional education efforts, including leading staff trips to China and programming its Hill briefings for new Members of Congress, and its "40-Under-40"-style Young Leaders Forum. He launched the U.S.-China Student Leaders Exchange and programs a variety of other Committee projects. He also re-launched the Committee's website and oversees much of its online presence.

Mr. Lowet received his B.A. in history from Yale. He then taught English in Beijing and Wuhan as a Yale-China Association Fellow. Back in the U.S., he worked for the D.C.-based Health Care Advisory Board before earning a master's in international affairs at Columbia University, focusing on China and international communications.

Mr. Lowet also has many years of experience in new media and communications, working both at major media companies (ABC.com, Discovery Communications) and start-ups. Immediately before joining the National Committee, he was the Director of Academics at Global Education Network, a distance learning company that produced Internet-based, college-level courses.
