Dan Murphy, Senior Program Officer

Dan Murphy currently directs an exchange program for environmental law professionals [1] and is program officer for the Public Intellectuals Program [2]. He has directed the Committee's programs on environmental sustainability in post-disaster reconstruction [3] and public participation in land use decisions [4] in addition to serving as program officer for the Policy Leaders Orientation Program [5]. Prior to joining the Committee, he coordinated the China Environment and Health Initiative at the Social Science Research Council.

Dan holds an M.A. in Chinese Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst as well as a graduate certificate from the Johns Hopkins University-Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies, where he studied politics and was supported by a Freeman Foundation Fellowship. In 2001, he was a Thomas J. Watson Fellow [6]. He is fluent in Chinese.
