Ira Belkin, program officer on law and rights at the Ford Foundation in Beijing, shared his insights on trends in human rights and the rule of law in China.

The National Committee held a roundtable discussion with Ira Belkin on February 10, 2010 in New York. Belkin shared his insights on trends in human rights and the rule of law in China. He also discussed the Ford Foundation’s work in these areas. The proceedings of the roundtable were off-the-record.

Ira Belkin is the program officer on law and rights at the Ford Foundation in Beijing. He has worked in both American and Chinese law since receiving his J.D. from New York University School of Law. In addition to serving as a federal prosecutor in New York and Rhode Island, he spent two tours at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. He also was a fellow at the China Law Center at Yale Law School for one year. He joined the Ford Foundation staff in August 2007.
