Mr. SungTae Kim is currently working toward a master’s degree in international affairs at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). Prior to SIPA, SungTae was already quite familiar with international affairs and international security issues, especially in the East Asian region. From September 2002 to January 2003, he studied at Beijing Foreign Studies University and traveled extensively through China. He then completed two years of military service for South Korea that also helped him acquire indispensable knowledge and a broad perspective on East Asian security issues. For his service and work with U.S. soldiers, SungTae was awarded the U.S. Army Commendation Medal.
Through his internship at the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, SungTae hopes to better understand the dynamics of U.S.-China relations, and develop hands-on experience in the non-profit sector.
