At the start of our 50th Anniversary celebration, the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations embarked on its Now More Than Ever 50th Anniversary Campaign in an effort to raise $15 million to invest in our proven programs and establish new initiatives. Thanks to our generous donors, dedicated campaign leadership, committed board of directors, and tireless staff, I am proud to say that we have surpassed our campaign goal. These gifts are a testament to the confidence in our future and to the continued significance of the National Committee in promoting understanding and cooperation between the United States and China. We look forward to responsibly meeting the challenges of the future.

Our Legacy

Over the past 50 years, the National Committee has quickly responded to immediate crises and to broader, systemic changes with relevant and sustainable programs. We fostered mutual understanding when we hosted the Chinese ping pong team in 1972. We promoted informed dialogue and rebuilt ties as we continued exchanges with China after the events of June 1989. We sowed the seeds of understanding by hosting thousands of Chinese in America and by sending thousands of Americans to China over the last five decades.

Our Future

The challenges facing the bilateral relationship are matched only by our capacity to meet them. The National Committee is poised to respond by bolstering our current programs and establishing exciting, new initiatives. When we began the campaign in early 2016, we could not have foreseen the uncertainty that the relationship faces today, but this simply underscores how critical our mission is.

Our Opportunity

The Now More Than Ever 50th Anniversary Campaign laid the foundation to raise the necessary resources to create and implement our innovative programs, but there is still more to be done. We must bring together citizens and leaders on both sides of the Pacific to strengthen the Sino-American relationship, a relationship that will determine whether we live in a peaceful and prosperous 21st century. Join us in making an investment in the future of U.S.-China relations.

Sincerely,
