Alanna Markowitz joined the National Committee as operations associate in August 2020. She carries out key administrative functions and supports governance, member engagement, and operational initiatives. Previously, she worked on the development team at Girls Inc., where she planned and executed major events and led her team in optimizing department operations. Before moving to New York, Alanna worked for U.S. Senator Bill Nelson both on Capitol Hill and in his district office in Tallahassee, FL.

Alanna graduated from Brown University in 2017 with a B.A. in international relations with a focus on Latin America. She studied Chinese-Latin American relations and spent much of her time examining the global political economy through a feminist lens. While at Brown, Alanna spent a semester in Cuba conducting research on the then-expanding cooperative economic structure.

Alanna grew up in rural north Florida but has always been a New Yorker at heart. In her free time she enjoys yoga and meditation, cooking, and painting.
