Senior Communications and Research Associate

Michael Collins joined the National Committee as communications and research associate in 2021. Prior to working at the National Committee, he was as a research associate for Elizabeth C. Economy and Jerome Cohen at the Council on Foreign Relations. In this role, he researched China’s global governance initiatives, with particular focus on the Belt and Road Initiative.

Mr. Collins studied Chinese language and culture at Washington University in St. Louis where he graduated with high honors and distinction. After graduation, he moved to Beijing where he completed a M.A. in Chinese studies at Peking University’s Yenching Academy, concentrating in modern history.
