The National Committee joined the US-China Business Council as lead hosts for a dinner honoring PRC Vice Premier Wang Qishan and State Councilor Dai Bingguo in Washington, D.C. on July 28, 2009. In addition to Vice Premier Wang and State Councilor Dai, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner also spoke at the dinner, which marked the conclusion of the 2009 Strategic and Economic Dialogue. Their remarks highlighted the importance of collaboration on issues of mutual and global concern, and underscored the need for bilateral cooperation in order to successfully emerge from the global economic crisis. Former Secretary of State and National Committee Director Dr. Henry A. Kissinger and Ambassador Carla A. Hills, chair of the National Committee, also offered remarks on the progress of US-China relations over the past 40 years and the challenges that lie ahead.
