P2P Exchange: Chinese Students in the U.S.

American rhetoric about Chinese students in the United States is growing increasingly hostile, causing some to re-think their overseas study plans. On September 20, 2021, the National Committee hosted a virtual program with current Harvard Law School and former Columbia School of Social Work student Qianfeng Lin; professor of sociology at Syracuse University, Yingyi Ma (herself a former graduate student in the United States); and former U.S. high school exchange and university student, Nicky Shuwo Zhou, to discuss the experiences of Chinese students studying in the United States.

Engagement Revisited

What progress has been made and lessons learned from the U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue? On September 13, 2021, the National Committee on American Foreign Policy (NCAFP) and the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations hosted a virtual program where Tiffany Barron (Princeton University), Rorry Daniels (NCAFP), Dan Jasper (American Friends Service Committee), and Susan Thornton (NCAFP) discussed the findings from a new report exploring the successes and challenges of the S&ED process.

Eyewitness to History

The National Committee and Schwarzman Scholars partnership hosted an in-depth conversation between NCUSCR Vice President Jan Berris and Schwarzman Scholars Fellow Will Cullen on Jan’s 50 years at the National Committee. During the September 21, 2021 program, Jan shared personal anecdotes and reflections highlighting the importance of exchange programs as well as lessons learned from challenging times in the bilateral relationship over the course of her distinguished career at the forefront of U.S.-China relations.
