Program
The Professional Fellows Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is a two-way capacity building exchange for emerging NGO leaders in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the United States in the fields of environment, legal aid, philanthropy, and community building among marginalized populations. The National Committee works with NGOs in the United States, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan to carry out the program with a total of 28 Asian fellows and 14 American counterparts each year of the three-year cycle.

Public Event
Christine Loh, undersecretary for the environment in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, discussed recent developments in Hong Kong as well as environmental issues in Hong Kong and neighboring Guangdong Province on Thursday, February 7 in New York. This National Committee event was co-sponsored by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office.

Program
In 2011, the National Committee, in partnership with the Center for Legal Assistance to Pollution Victims at China University of Political Science and Law, sponsored a two-way exchange for environmental law professionals in China and the United States.

Program
The National Committee, in partnership with the Institute for Sustainable Communities and with funding from the State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, sponsored an exchange of emerging leaders from earthquake-affected areas of Sichuan and post-Katrina areas of the Gulf Coast designed to exchange ideas about sustainability in long-term post-disaster recovery.

Public Event
The National Committee was delighted to welcome Zhang Jingjing to a roundtable discussion held on March 19, 2009. Ms. Zhang, an environmental litigator, first came to the United States in 2005 as a participant in a National Committee program on strengthening the work of legal aid centers in China; she reported that the program had changed her, inspiring her to encourage active public participation towards environmental protection in China.

Program
In June 2007, the National Committee worked with long-time partner, the National League of Cities (NLC), and new partner, the League of California Cities (LCC) on a ten-day study tour to Beijing, Qingdao and Shanghai for mayors, city council members, and the NLC and LCC leadership.
