    The National Committee's Young China Professionals (YCP) program engages China-focused individuals across various industries between the ages of 25 and 45 to increase their knowledge about China on pertinent issues.

    The Professional Fellows Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is a two-way capacity building exchange for emerging NGO leaders in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the United States in the fields of environment, legal aid, philanthropy, and community building among marginalized populations. The National Committee works with NGOs in the United States, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan to carry out the program with a total of 28 Asian fellows and 14 American counterparts each year of the three-year cycle.

    Eight months after the Chinese ping pong team visited the United States, the National Committee made history again by hosting the first performing arts company from the People's Republic of China — the Shenyang Acrobatic Troupe — for a four-week, four-city tour.

    In September 1973, the National Committee helped facilitate the Philadelphia Orchestra's historic trip to China, paving the way for other American orchestras. The Boston Symphony followed in 1979.

    Administered by the Committee from 1981 to 2015, the Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad Program sent American pre-collegiate and college-level educators to several cities in China for 4-5 weeks each summer. It offered an opportunity to gain valuable, first-hand insights into a country that has become an important element in American education across the curriculum. Through the intensive program of briefings and site visits, educators enhanced their ability to teach about Chinese culture, history, politics, economics, and other areas.

    Since 2004, the National Committee has been selecting twelve graduating U.S. high school seniors who have received national recognition for their accomplishments to participate in the yearly U.S.-China Student Leaders Exchange. For the young American participants, the heart of the program is a two-week study visit to China during the summer between high school and college. Americans participants learn about China's successes and challenges and have unusual opportunities to meet and exchange ideas with their Chinese counterparts as a consequence of homestays throughout most of the program.

    The Diplomat Orientation Program (DOP) is an intensive two-week study tour that provides mid-career Chinese diplomats with a deeper, more hands-on understanding of America’s history and values and how these may shape American policies and perspectives. Through a varied mix of meetings and site visits ranging from the New York Stock Exchange to a dairy farm in central Pennsylvania, participants have the opportunity to engage in direct dialogue with Americans outside their particular spheres of expertise.

    From 1981 to 2015, the National Committee administered a program on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education to bring delegations of educators and educational administrators from across China to the United States. Twice each year, participants selected by the Chinese Ministry of Education had an opportunity to learn about the strengths and challenges of various aspects of the American education system and its institutions and organizations.
