Econ Track II Dialogue

The U.S.-China Track II Economic Dialogue virtually convened leading economists, economic thinkers, and business leaders from both countries on July 25 and 28 to explore key issues and developments in the economic and trade relationship. The American delegation was led by the Committee’s honorary and current chairs, Carla A. Hills and Jacob J. Lew respectively, and the Chinese delegation was led by Qin Xiao. Discussion topics included the current economic climate, the outlook for the second half of 2022, and ways to limit the deterioration of U.S.-China relations. We plan to share discussion notes with policymakers in both countries.

Subnational Practicum

The National Committee co-hosted a virtual practicum for state-level government officials who work on China, focusing on the effect of China's zero-Covid policy on global supply chains and U.S.-China trade. The August 3 program, co-hosted with the Lieberthal-Rogel Center for Chinese Studies at the University of Michigan and the Michigan China Innovation Center, featured Kenneth Jarrett, senior advisor at ASG and former president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai; Pilar Dieter, managing partner at YCP Solidiance; and Cameron Johnson, partner at Tidwalwave Solutions and adjunct faculty at New York University in Shanghai.
