For fifty years, the success of the National Committee’s initiatives has depended on our partners and members, who represent many viewpoints but share the vision that constructive U.S.-China relations are essential to the global community. It is this vision, and the belief that strong communities are built on the cornerstone of education, that inspires the work of Yihai Property Holdings Co. Ltd., led by CEO Linda Wong. We are most grateful to Linda, for its $500,000 contribution to the National Committee’s 50th Anniversary Campaign.

As a major property developer with a unique focus on education, Yihai has built a reputation for philanthropy in China, and brings the same passion to its U.S. operations. Since 2014, Yihai has been the exclusive supporter of the National Committee’s Student Leaders Exchange (SLE), and has allocated half of its 50th Anniversary gift to that program.

"As the largest developing and developed countries, China and the United States have the responsibility to maintain world peace and the stability of economic development,” said Wong. “The National Committee has built an excellent platform for nongovernmental communication between the people of these two countries. I am encouraging a focus on education and creating opportunities for young people to develop friendship, communication and to learn from each other. In the future, these young people will contribute to the partnership between the two countries, and to the peaceful development of the world."

Through SLE, Yihai enables nationally-recognized young Americans to learn firsthand about China and bring new understanding to their roles as future leaders. SLE participants are selected from graduating U.S. high school seniors who have been selected as U.S. Presidential Scholars and Intel Science Talent Search finalists. Their two-week China program not only provides a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, history, and society, but also creates lasting personal connections among this extraordinary group. Through stays with host families, in-depth conversations with Chinese peers, and exposure to China at a critical time in their lives, participants return with a life-changing interest in China and enthusiasm for global affairs that informs their roles as future leaders.
