Intern Testimonials

Caroline Agsten

Interning at the National Committee during this turbulent period in U.S.-China relations has been fundamental to sharpening my own perspectives on the relationship and envisioning the path forward. My internship has allowed me to engage in a variety of projects — both internal research work as well as externally-facing products — that have contributed to furthering the National Committee’s overall mission. I’ve been able to take ownership of my work from inception to completion, as well as be part of hardworking and inspiring teams. It’s been so energizing to work alongside staff members who care deeply about the bilateral relationship and bring different opinions, insights, and experiences to deepening engagement and building mutual understanding.

Matthew Willis

The National Committee was such an amazing opportunity to learn more about public diplomacy and see firsthand how people-to-people connections matter in U.S.-China relations! I got to work on all kinds of projects – from putting together a weekly newsletter to creating two completely new video programs for public education. I received so much encouragement to be creative and take initiative with my work. There are few places that can give you this kind of experience in U.S.-China relations, so please consider applying – you’ll learn so much both from your projects and from having conversations with passionate staffers you work with every day!
