Directors from the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations met for an off-the-record discussion with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 25, 2025.

The meeting included discussion of economic, investment, and trade issues, and the potential for greater cooperation on issues of shared concern.

“It is essential to American interests that business leaders and policy experts have the opportunity to discuss key issues, address concerns, and maintain working relationships with Chinese leaders,” said National Committee President Stephen Orlins.

The National Committee believes that forthright dialogue between American business, policy, and civic leaders and senior Chinese government leaders fosters mutual understanding and creates opportunities to promote U.S. interests.

Attending directors of the National Committee included: NCUSCR Executive Vice Chair Evan Greenberg, Chairman and CEO, Chubb; Ming Hsieh, Chairman & CEO, Fulgent Genetics; William E. Ford, Chairman and CEO, General Atlantic; Peng Zhao, CEO, Citadel Securities; and NCUSCR President Stephen Orlins.

Representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council along with representatives from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Council on Foreign Relations joined the meeting.
