NEW YORK – May 11, 2024 – The National Committee on U.S.-China Relations (NCUSCR) organized a meeting with the PRC’s Special Envoy for Climate Change Liu Zhenmin and climate experts in the United States at NCUSCR offices on May 11, 2024. Mr. Liu and his delegation stopped in New York on their way to San Francisco from the May 8-9 Washington, D.C. meeting of the bilateral Working Group on Enhancing Climate Action in the 2020s. This is his first visit to New York in his new role.
NCUSCR supports bilateral communication on climate and environmental issues between the United States and China, and has ongoing programs that examine the Sino-American climate relationship through our public programming and the U.S.-China Track II Dialogue on Climate Finance, established in 2022.
The National Committee has a long tradition of engaging with officials on both sides of the Pacific, beginning with a 1968 briefing for President Johnson and for PRC officials in China on our first board trip there in 1972.
