The National Committee on U.S.-China Relations held our annual black-tie Gala Dinner on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in New York City.

This year, we celebrated Dr. Albert Bourla, chairman and chief executive officer of Pfizer, for his contributions to U.S.-China relations. Under Dr. Bourla’s leadership, Pfizer has driven groundbreaking scientific innovation and strengthened its commitment to equitable global healthcare, all in pursuit of its purpose: breakthroughs that change patients’ lives. In China, Pfizer has operated for over three decades and across more than 300 cities. At a time when the bilateral relationship is complex, healthcare remains a vital area of shared interest. Dr. Bourla’s numerous achievements and contributions have been instrumental in advancing NCUSCR’s mission.

In addition to remarks from Dr. Bourla, the evening included a performance by acclaimed artists Abigail Washburn and Wu Fei, who blended American old-time music with traditional Chinese folksong, as well as remarks from NCUSCR Chair and former U.S. Trade Representative Charlene Barshefsky, NCUSCR Executive Vice Chair, Evan Greenberg, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng, and NCUSCR President Stephen Orlins.
